We are qualified for master's degree in 2004. In 2006, we began to cooperation with Wuhan mental hospital, and in 2017, the first-class master's program of psychology was approved. In 2018, we reached a strategic cooperation with Wuhan mental hospital in cultivating the Postgraduates，specifically, we are going to combine teaching, scientific research and social service as an organic whole, which pay much attention on the ability of students’ combining theories and practices. We are committed to promote scientific and technological innovation and strengthen academic research, personnel professional training and social services. The psychology institute focusing on clinical and psychological counseling in China are few. Compared with other colleges which also have psychological clinic, CUG has its own characteristics, which is characterized by clinical and counseling psychology, crisis intervention, our institute focusing on the combination of discipline development and social needs, and interdisciplinary development has formed five main research directions: clinical and counseling psychology; students, adolescent development and educational psychology; social and management psychology; crisis intervention; cognitive neuropsychology.

Now in our institute, we have a group of teachers with high academic level, great academic impact and young talents. There are 35 professional teachers, including 7 professors, 20 associate professors, and 68.6% of teachers having doctoral degree. Two people got "Huanghe Scholar Program " in Wuhan.We had domestic famous clinical therapist such as Wu heming, Tong jun, we has made a significant contribution in the Wenchuan earthquake, Ya'an earthquake and the sinking of "Oriental Star", etc. More than. Within the last half-decade, the discipline has achieved a lot and got more than 75 research projects, including 5 national research projects, 70 provincial research projects, and more than 100 academic paper among Acta Psychologica Sinica. We has kept multiple research platforms, including laboratory of trauma evaluation, Hubei province personnel evaluation base, laboratory of psychological training in group and psychological counseling room. What’s more, Wuhan mental hospital, as an affiliated hospital of CUG, its clinical psychology department is an innovative key clinical discipline in the central medical service center of the people's Republic of China; It is also a registered practice organization and supervision point of clinical and consulting psychology professional institutions and professional registration system of Chinese Psychological Society; Psychological crisis intervention department is a key discipline in Wuhan. It has fMRI, MSD hypersensitive factor electrochemiluminescence analyzer and other high-end experimental equipment, and has brain imaging, molecular biology and other related laboratories. The training system is comprehensive, the curriculum system is systematic, the integrated design of curriculum teaching, academic training and professional practice courses, the postgraduate training mode is in line with international standards, and international school running is carried out. More than 200 graduate students have been trained, with solid theoretical foundation and strong professional skills. They are highly praised by employers, and the employment rate is 100%. In the past five years, nearly 20 papers have been published in authoritative journals such as progress in psychological science, and five have gone abroad to study for Ph.D. in psychology.
